32" × 10" 7-Ply Dual Motor Electric Skateboard

A Dual Motor Electric Skateboard should be developed around its electrical system first, not simply around the deck shape. Motors, battery pack, controller, remote and charging hardware all need to work within the physical space available beneath the skateboard.

For this 32 × 10 inch platform, the electrical layout becomes part of the product architecture.

Start with the Drive and Battery Layout

The dual motor system determines how power is delivered to the skateboard, while the battery pack supplies the energy required by the drivetrain.

An 18650 battery pack, controller and motor system should therefore be reviewed together before the enclosure and deck layout are finalized. Cable routing, component position and available mounting space all influence the finished electric skateboard.

This is a very different development process from a conventional complete skateboard, where trucks and wheels are the main mechanical considerations.

Treat the Controller and Remote as One User System

The controller, remote and charger form the operating side of the product.

For OEM projects, buyers should review how the remote communicates with the skateboard, how the controller is integrated and how the charging arrangement is presented to the end user.

The assembled sample is especially important because the electrical components need to be evaluated as one complete system rather than as independent parts.

Approve the Complete Electric Configuration

Before bulk production, a complete sample can be used to review deck dimensions, battery enclosure placement, motor setup, steering components, graphics and packaging.

Once the electrical and mechanical configuration is approved, the same platform can support different visual SKUs through deck graphics, grip tape and packaging changes.
